Our Story
Resin Calculator started in 2024 as a side project by a small group of resin hobbyists who were frustrated with the same problem: we kept wasting expensive epoxy because we were eyeballing measurements or doing rough math on scrap paper. Why We Built This
We got tired of guessing. Most resin packaging gives you a ratio but no easy way to figure out how many milliliters of each component you actually need for your specific mold. So we built a calculator that does exactly that — enter your dimensions, pick a shape, choose your ratio, and get precise measurements in ml, grams, or liters.
How the Resin Calculator Works
The tool calculates the volume of your mold using standard geometry formulas (length × width × depth for rectangles, π × r² × depth for circles, and so on for ovals, hexagons, and other shapes). Then it splits the total volume according to your mixing ratio. The result is the exact amount of Part A (resin) and Part B (hardener) you need to pour.
How We Verify Our Formulas
Accuracy matters when you're working with resin — even small measurement errors can affect curing. Here's how we keep the calculator reliable:
- Volume formulas are based on standard geometric equations found in engineering and mathematics reference texts (e.g., cylinder volume = π × r² × h, ellipse area = π × a × b).
- Density conversions between milliliters and grams use the commonly accepted average density of mixed epoxy resin, approximately 1.1 g/ml. This value is consistent with technical data sheets published by major resin manufacturers.
- We cross-checked our calculator output against manual calculations and popular resin brand guidelines to ensure results are within practical accuracy for crafting and professional use.
